Description
Scientific research finds its true meaning when it responds to real-world needs. This idea is fully reflected in the pages of this volume, which brings together five contributions presented during the 6th Seminar “INVALSI Data: A Tool for Research and Teaching” (Rome, 25–28 november, 2021). From various perspectives, the authors demonstrate how INVALSI data can serve as an investigative tool within school classrooms.
As the Statistical Department, we hope that reading this volume reinforces one of our core beliefs: data alone do not solve the problems they represent, but they can be essential tools for understanding where and how to intervene. They can serve as the foundation for changing the dynamics that have caused difficulties. The snapshot that INVALSI provides each year on student learning is, therefore, a starting point—one that must be worked on and built upon. The research, proposals, and reflections presented in this volume contribute to the growing body of literature that we have been compiling over the years in our series and stand as evidence of the collective effort being made in this direction.
