School is the place where the future is built, where knowledge, relationships and growth intertwine, and it has always been a place of research where teachers and students explore the meaning of learning. This volume, which draws on a collection of papers presented during the eighth edition of the seminar “INVALSI data: a tool for research and teaching” (Rome, 23-26 November 2023), describes a school that is called upon to engage with new technologies and becomes a laboratory even richer in opportunities. Spanning six chapters, the text offers a journey that weaves together data, experimentation and visions, with the aim of providing practical insights for a school that observes, analyses and acts. As the Statistical Service, we hope it will serve as a tool for sharing and inspiration, and as an invitation to view educational research as a dynamic, open and necessary process. Because only a school that researches is a school that grows.
