In recent years, the Italian education system has been called upon to tackle increasingly complex challenges, ranging from nurturing talent to managing vulnerabilities, from inclusion to promoting equity. Schools, as places where diversity and potential meet, are now at the centre of a debate that intertwines pedagogical, psychological and social dimensions, with the aim of guaranteeing every student meaningful learning opportunities and educational success. This volume is a collection of some of the papers presented during the VIII edition of the seminar “INVALSI data: a tool for research and teaching” (Rome, 23-26 November 2023). Its aim is to offer insights and practical tools for teachers, school leaders, researchers and policymakers, in the belief that improving the quality of education requires an integrated approach, capable of combining merit and inclusion, innovation and equity.
