Book launch by Paolo Barabanti
This book addresses one of the most topical issues in educational debate: the role of artificial intelligence in learning assessment. Offering a reflection on AI and its impact in learning contexts, it provides the basic concepts needed to understand its nature, how it functions and its limitations. It also explores the potential uses of generative AI tools in creating assessments, rubrics and evaluation grids. Through comparative analyses and experiments with tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot, the book addresses a number of practical issues relating to their use. For example, to what extent does the structure of the prompt affect the quality of the output? Does including examples help reduce errors? Do different models produce different results for the same request? The presentation will provide an opportunity to discuss the opportunities, limitations, and necessary conditions for the rigorous, methodical use of artificial intelligence in learning assessment.
