INVALSI assessments have been at the heart of the educational debate for years. The use of standardized assessments like those developed by INVALSI is part of a broader analysis of European education systems, which must be considered within the framework of educational policy at the European level.
The interruption of in-person classes that characterized the 19/20 school year, a decision put in place to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, had among its consequences the suspension of the national INVALSI assessments, regularly administered in the following school year. During the days of the VI Seminar "INVALSI data: a tool for research and teaching" (Rome, 25-28 November, 2021), it was therefore possible for researchers and teachers to return to use those results as a tool for investigation with respect to the effects of the pandemic crisis within the school world.
