Mathematics has always played a central role in school curricula, not only for its instrumental function but also for its profound educational value. It represents a discipline that, more than others, contributes to the development of abstract thinking, logical reasoning, problem solving. In an educational context increasingly oriented towards complexity and interdisciplinarity, mathematics emerges as a universal language, capable of connecting seemingly distant fields of knowledge and providing essential cognitive tools for understanding the contemporary world.
Over the course of the various editions of the seminar “INVALSI data: a tool for research and teaching”, several papers dedicated to this topic by researchers and teachers have been collected. The volume described here brings together three from the eighth edition (Rome, 23-26 November 2023).
Taken together, these papers offer a comprehensive and coherent perspective on how educational research can engage with teaching practice, generating educational pathways capable of responding to the challenges of the modern world. The volume is aimed at teachers, trainers, researchers and educational decision-makers interested in promoting a school that learns, reflects and innovates.
