As in the previous issue (December 2024), this edition of “Insights from the Statistical Department” is also dedicated to exploring the content and informational potential of the Open Data made available by INVALSI to all users.
The December issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department” offers some insights into the potential of the data released by INVALSI. As previously noted (see Newsletter No. 4, March 2022), the information assets produced by INVALSI have for some years now been made publicly available in Open Data format.
The November issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department” is dedicated to the 9th Seminar “Data of and for the Education System: Tools for Research and Teaching.” This event has become a key fixture among the initiatives managed and organised by the Statistical Service, and once again this year, it successfully fulfilled its goal of bringing together the worlds of scientific research and education. It provided a valuable space for researchers and teachers to exchange ideas and engage in meaningful dialogue.
In this issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department”, you will have the opportunity to explore the topic of gender stereotypes and inequalities in greater depth. In particular, the issue features the presentations delivered during the symposium organised by INVALSI as part of the Third International Conference of the journal “Scuola Democratica.”
The topic addressed in this issue of the newsletter is the new platform for reporting the results of the INVALSI assessments to schools, which will be launched in the coming weeks. Starting from the current school year, it will operate alongside the existing platform and eventually replace it. The new system offers schools several advantages: access to a larger volume of data, the ability to explore various topics related to the National Assessments in greater depth, and a more interactive website that provides a personalised browsing experience tailored to different needs.
The topic of the August issue of “Insights from the Statistical Department” is the presentation of the INVALSI 2024 Report, which took place on 11 July. As usual, the event marks the conclusion of an extensive process in which INVALSI is engaged in one of its most important responsibilities within the National Evaluation System: the regular and systematic assessment of students’ knowledge and skills, as well as the overall quality of the educational provision offered by schools.
In this issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department”, readers will have the opportunity to explore a topic related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which was the subject of a plenary session during the 8th edition of the Seminar “INVALSI Data: A Tool for Research and Teaching.”
With the approval of the PNRR, a series of initiatives have been launched to support the country’s recovery across various sectors — including, of course, the key sector of education.
We take advantage of this time of year — which, for the Institute, represents the culmination of one of its most well-known activities — to dedicate this issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department” to an overview of the INVALSI assessments: their introduction and the regulatory changes that have taken place over the years.
This issue of the newsletter “Insights from the Statistical Department” is dedicated to the Research Seminar “The New INVALSI Data Feedback Platform: The Voice of Schools”, held in Rome on 28 March 2024 at the INVALSI “Aldo Visalberghi” Library. The event brought together a sample of Italian school leaders and teachers, alongside INVALSI staff.
