The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) is a project with the partnership of INVALSI which is charge of creating an indicator of fragility, a very usefull information in order to reflect on the action plans.
PNRR dedicates the entire Mission 4 – Component 1 to education and research. Through a series of enabling reforms and investments, it aims to strengthen the supply of educational services from nurseries to universities, ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth, overcoming regional disparities, and enhancing tools for guidance, recruitment, and teacher training.
In particular, Investment 1.4, titled “Extraordinary intervention aimed at reducing territorial disparities in lower and upper secondary schools and combating school dropout, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU,” plans to involve (by 2024) 820,000 students and young people aged 12–24 engaged in educational pathways, with three main objectives:
- Measure and monitor territorial disparities, including through the consolidation and wider use of PISA/INVALSI assessments;
- Reduce territorial disparities in Italy concerning basic skills (Italian, Mathematics, and English), especially in the South (Mezzogiorno);
- Develop a strategy to structurally combat school dropout.
